Arthur Achmuty of Brienstown XE "Achmuty:Arthur" , known as Captain Arthur, elder son of Arthur of Ballykenny and Martha his wife.
Dublin pedigree: “Captain Arthur Achmuty eldest son eyer [heir] of his father dead 1692 admon granted 10 Oct 1693 to his widow Eliz’th Auchmuty of Bryanstown [Brianstown, Brienstown] Co Longford. m. Elizabeth RYND, only dau. of David Rynd of Inniskillen, merchant and Patentee under Act of Settlement of Lands in Co Fermanagh, by Margaret his wife, sister of Sir Gerald Irvine, Bart, of Castle Irvine ”
Captain Arthur died in 1692 six years before his father. Administration of his estate was granted to his widow Elizabeth (Rynd). His father’s will of 1697 names his son Thomas heir.
Helena Forbes Auchmuty: “Arthur married a Miss Eliza Wren [Rynd] of the Co Cavan who though very handsome was unprincipled in every degree. Arthur lived first at Ballyhenny and afterwards at Brienstown in a home which I recollect to have seen. He died young leaving one son called Thomas and five daughters. His widow settled in Dublin where she behaved as ill as possible.”
Bessie Auchmuty quoted in TGA p50: “son Arthur Junior of Brienstown who in . . . . married Elizabeth (she married 2ndly . . . . . Stewart of what place I know not and she was dead) daughter of David Rynd of Enniskillen, Merchant; whose Marriage Settlement I have seen and by whom he had 4 daughters Margaret married to Anthony Jessop, Martha to Lieut Arthur Deane, . . . . . to one Galbraith and Isabella to Lieut Carruthers. The Jessops and Deanes left descendants now extant of the others I know nothing. I have never heard of what complaint or by what accident the second Arthur died, nor indeed much respecting him in any way.”
Also on p50: “I have met with an Inventory of the Cattle sold a Ballimachbrian after Ar Jun’r Decease and also a settlement with the Chanceller as the children were wards in Chancery and left very young by their father. I have also found the Letters of Admin’n taken out by Eliz’th Stewart in 1708 to Johannes Stewart all in Latin, so you see she was a second time a widow.” …….. ”Ar(thur) the younger only one son Thomas and five Daughters Margaret married Dr Jessop’s Grandfather Martha Kitt Deanes Grandfather Isabella Morgan Galbraith of the Co Longford old Mrs Brown Grandmother to Mrs Duberdiur was her daughter, I think there was a Jane who married a Fetherston of White Rock or as it was then called GreenRock, there was also Eliz’h she married I believe a Carruthers in Dublin. These two last I am not as sure of as the three former.”
And on p54: “Cap’n Arthur Aghmooty’s Jun’r marriage settlement with Elizabeth Rind I have found or a copy of it. Tis said it is intended to take place the 15th day of July 1669 her father David Rind was a Merchant in Inniskillen Co Fermanagh She is only daughter. She had Four hundred pounds fortune to be paid on the first day of May following, she had also one hundred pound more settled on her to be paid at the decease of her father David Rind it is further settled and agreed upon by Cap’n Ar A-y the elder to settle upon his son and Heir Ar A-y Jun’r Thirty pounds sterling yearly rent forever at the day before his marriage and Forty pounds more yearly rent at the decease of him and Martha his wife and the aforesaid Ar shall not convert any part of the Five hundred pounds to any other use than what shall be for the use and profit of the said Ar the younger and his heirs lawfully etc etc and the aforesaid Ar shall settle and secure to the aforesaid Eliz’th Rind a jointure of Fifty pounds yearly out of his real Estate or lands of inheritance and if it shall please God that the said Eliz’th shall not have children by the aforesaid Ar - the younger - then Sixty pounds sterling shall be settled and secured to the said Eliz’th out of the real estate of the aforesaid Ar A-y. Cap’n A-y shall give good security on his part to the aforesaid David Rind for the performance of the Jointure to the said Eliz’th and David Rind shall give security for the payment of the five hundred pounds.

This is the heads of the settlement as well as I could make it out I hope you may be able to read it, the names I cannot read the first one in particular, Helen wrote them from the original.”
From the will of Arthur of Ballykenny dated 1697 ['A copy of this will is among the papers of Henzel Ault, in private hands' (note)]: “I doe alsoe Leave and appoint My Grandson Thos. Aghmuty to maintaine and keep his youngest Sister Isbell Aghmuty until shee be Married” and “3dly I doe leave and bequeath to My Grand daughter Isabell Agh……….muty youngest daughter to my son Arthur Aghmuty decd. the sume of fourescore pounds sterg. to be payd to her at the day of her Marriage”
Arthur married Elizabeth Rynd XE "Rhynd:Elizabeth" who, after her husband’s decease in 1692 married secondly John Stewart who also predeceased her.
Arthur and Elizabeth had one son and five daughters: -

3. Martha who married Capt Deane XE "Deane"
4. Jane who married Francis Fetherston XE "Fetherston:Francis"
5. Elizabeth who married Lieutenant Carruthers XE "Carruthers"
6. Isabella who married Morgan Galbraith XE "Galbraith:Morgan"
For the five daughters: -
Thomas Gordon Auchmuty pp 26, 27: “Arthur Junior of Brienstown who in . . . . married Elizabeth (she married 2ndly . . . . . Stewart of what place I know not and she was dead) daughter of David Rynd of Enniskillen, Merchant; whose Marriage Settlement I have seen and by whom he had 4 daughters Margaret married to Anthony Jessop, Martha to Lieut Arthur Deane, . . . . . to one Galbraith and Isabella to Lieut Carruthers”
and again on p 35: “I have not heard of any other issue of Arthur the 2nd of Brienstown than his eldest son and heir Thomas and daughters Margaret wife of Anthony Jessop of Derry from who are descended the present family of Jessop of Derry and of Mount Jessop, Martha married to Arthur Dean of whom there are descendants extant. . . . . . . . . . wife of Galbraith, and Isabella wife of Carruthers.”
