About this site - www.bomford.net/irishbomfordsThis site was created in February 2005, primarily to make available on the internet Peter Bamford's hitherto unpublished work in three typewritten volumes, 'The Bomford Family of Ireland and Allied Families'. Peter's history was initially written in the 1980s, based primarily on family records in his possession (now in the National Library in Dublin), and 'with the assistance of far too many relations, friends and officials to give thanks to individually'. In 2004 and 2005 it was scanned and converted to electronic form and updated, and Peter agreed to its publication on this site. Peter's has provided some comment on his work and there is also a list of sources. A family tree has been prepared based on Peter's work. It includes links to relevant sections in Peter's work and will be revised as more information comes to hand. There are many other documents and artefacts relating to the Bomfords of Ireland. It is hoped to link those to relevant sections of the site, using Peter's book as the organising skeleton. We will also add links to internet resources for related families.
