(21) Thomas Auchmuty, wine merchant, third son of Thomas Auchmuty

Notes from Clare Eagle (emails Apr 2009)

Thomas Auchmuty XE "Auchmuty:Thomas" , Wine Merchant, third son of Thomas Auchmuty and Dorcas Townley his wife

Dublin pedigree:   “Thomas Achmuty of Bryanstown, mentioned in the will of his father, marrd 19 Feb 1732, deed of Applmt dat 15 & 16 July 1737: dead in 1758. == Ann King dau of Mary Vaughan alias King, living a widow 7 Feb 1758.”

Thomas Gordon Auchmuty p 35:  “Thomas one of the younger of the five sons of Thomas the first of Brienstown and Dorcas Townley had 2 daughters one married to a Mr John Daniel XE "Daniel:John"  whose descendant has inherited a large property  in Dorsetshire, the other a Mr John Stafford XE "Stafford:John"  in Longford of whom there are representatives of the name, I have heard that he was not married to the mother of those daughters and was himself in some Regiment of Horse.  (He married Anne Eyre a daughter of Eyre of Eyre Court, Co Galway.)”

Helena Forbes Auchmuty:  “the third (son) was a great master in the Army.  He married but I have forgotten to whom, he left two daughters”

James J. Auchmuty:  “He married 2ndly on 2 Feb 1732 at St Werburgh, Dublin, Annamarie King.”

Thomas Gordon Auchmuty states that Thomas the Wine Merchant married Anne Eyre whereas the Dublin pedigree, a more reliable source, states he married Ann King.  TGA writes that Thomas might not have married the mother of his two daughters whereas JJA writes that Thomas was married twice but gives no source for a first wife.

Thomas had two daughters:

         Mary, married John Stafford

         Dorcas, married John Daniel
