(94) Samuel Auchmuty, of Brienstown, only son of Thomas Auchmuty

Samuel Auchmuty, of Brienstown, (the sixth generation) only son of Thomas Auchmuty and his wife Isabella Gordon.

Born 30 Nov 1756, his father died when he was age 6, his mother married secondly Robert Savage when he was 10.  He inherited Brienstown, became high sheriff of Co Longford, died in Dublin age 74. 

Samuel married Elizabeth Domville Savage

 

Dublin pedigree: 

“of Brianstown, Lt Col Longford Militia and High Sheriff Co Longford in 1789 J.P. died 16 Feb 1829 at 74; buried in Old Church of Lisbrack; will dat 9 Oct 1828 prd8 Aug 1829.”

and “Elizabeth Domville SAVAGE of Saint Ann, Dublin, only daur of Francis Savage of Ballygawley Co Sligo by Bridget his wife dau of Rear Admiral Ch Pocklington.  bur’d 27 Aug 1846 at 88 in Old Churchyd of Lisbrack M.I.”

 

Helena Forbes Auchmuty: “Samuel Auchmuty her son married at 21 Eliza Domville Savage aged 18 years, youngest daughter of Frances Savage Esq. Half sister to his stepfather.  He has 3 sons and 3 daughters living, grown up by her.  Thomas and Benjamin Samuel (of 1818) in the Army and Charles going to join a regt, Anna Maria, Isobella and Eliza Domville living with their father and mother at Brienstown.

 

Thomas Gordon Auchmtuy, pp 30, 31:  “Elizabeth Domville wife of Samuel Achmuty my father, who by her has had issue Thomas the writer hereof, Samuel Benjamin Lt Colonel in the Army and a Companion of the Order of the Bath, Archibald Gordon died an infant, Francis died young, Charles a Lt in the 7th Regt of foot died at Coimbra in Portugal in 1810, Bridget died in infancy 1 Anna Maria 2 Isabella 3 Elizabeth Domvill – the writer of this married 2nd September 1811 Bridget Domville 7th daughter of Charles Pocklington only surviving son of Admiral Ch’s Pocklington and Elizabeth Domville who on the death of his uncle the Rt Honorable Sir Compton Domvill by his Will assumed the name and arms of Domville and was after his mother heir of his estates and property – by which Bridget Domvile the writer has issue only one daughter Margaret Domvile born 5 July 1812 at Matlock Baths in Derbyshire.”

 

Samuel and Elizabeth had five sons and three daughters

      1.      Thomas Gordon inherited Brienstown, married Bridget Domville 

      2.      Samuel Benjamin later General Sir Samuel

      3.      Francis died age 6. 

      4.      Archibald Gordon  died an infant in 1785

      5.      Charles died at Coimbra in 1810

      6.      Anna Maria

      7.      Isabella Gordon
