Reverend Samuel Auchmuty, seventh and youngest child, and third son of Samuel Auchmuty and Mary King. Rector of the Parish of Shrule. Will be covered in Section 3
Rev Samuel Auchmuty (57 in tree) m(1) Susanna Maria Savage. Her brother Robert Savage (58 in tree) m(2) in Knockadoo, Sligo, Ireland 1766 lsabella Gordon, 1720-1777. Isabella Gordon m(1) 1753 Thomas Auchmuty (51), also son of Samuel Auchmuty (25) & Mary King, so Rev Samuel (57)'s brother.
Notes list debts on Brienstown. #3 refers to an 18 Jan 1777 marriage settlement of Samuel Auchmuty, possibly between said Samuel Auchmuty and Rev Samuel Auchmuty. Possible Samuels are:
- Samuel Ahmuty of Brianstown (25), b 1700, d of Jaundice 18 Jan 1766, so he was dead before 1777
- Rev Samuel Achmuty (57), b 1740, d 9 May 1800, Rev of Shrule, m(1) Susannah Maria Savage: he fits very nicely. He is also a brother of Judith Ahmuty (53), who is mentioned in debt #2
- Rev Samuel Achmuty (103), b 1769, d 1818, of Ballimahon co Longford, Rev of Shrule, m 1806 Margaret Christina Lyons: he was too young to be have a marriage settlement in 1777
- Lt Col Samuel Auchmuty (94), b 1755, d 16 Feb 1829, m Elizabeth Domvile Savage. This one has the advantage that the marriage took place in 1777. Rev Samuel Achmuty (57) was his uncle, and Judith Ahmuty (53) his aunt
So the 18 Jan 1777 marriage settlement seems to be between Lt Col Samuel Auchmuty (94) and his uncle Rev Samuel Achmuty (57), his father Thomas Achmuty (51) having d Aug 1762, and the intended marriage being between Lt Col Samuel Auchmuty (94) and Elizabeth Domvile Savage, and involved reservation of £2,000. The actual debt seems to be a mortgage given by the Rev Samuel Achmuty (presumably the uncle (57), perhaps as trustee of the settlement) to Samuel Achmuty, perhaps Lt Col Samuel Auchmuty (94).
The second debt refers to a settlement dated 15 May 1750 between a Samuel Auchmuty and his son Thomas. That is a generation older (27 years), so likely between Samuel Ahmuty of Brianstown (25), b 1700, d of jaundice 18 Jan 1766, and his son Thomas Achmuty (51), d Aug 1762, m Isabella Gordon, d 1777, and would put the date of that marriage as closely after 15 May 1750.
